In the recently held FlightSimExpo 2024, developers of the popular Microsoft Flight Simulator shared a comprehensive report shedding light on the game's user demographics and distribution within various gaming platforms. The report indicated that the largest portion of the game's audience could be found within the Microsoft Store, closely followed by Xbox users.

In terms of the platform hierarchy, next in line are Steam and xCloud users, albeit at a considerable gap. However, in spite of having the smallest number of users, Steam's audience has proved to be the most stable over time.

The report continued to delve into the revenue generated from additional content purchases. It revealed that Xbox users lead the pack, accounting for a substantial 36% of total revenue. The Microsoft Store claimed second place with 33%, while Steam and xCloud had 27% and a fractionary 4% respectively.

Over one million players have reportedly made purchases on these platforms. Among these purchasers, 58% spent less than 50 dollars, 17% spent between 50 and 100 dollars, and the remaining 24% shelled out more than 100 dollars. It is worth noting that a minor yet significant 3.65% of these gamers spent over 500 dollars.

The findings undeniably reflect the growth and popularity of Microsoft Flight Simulator, especially within the Xbox Ecosystem and Microsoft Store, pushing other platforms lower down the pecking order. Specifically, the lead Xbox aviators have in revenue generation is an interesting insight into the game's future in terms of updates and added content.
