Former Bethesda Artist Leaves Over Team Growth

He said enough is enough
Nate Purkeypile departed from Bethesda during the development of Starfield due to the team's significant growth. Previously, Nate contributed as a lead artist on projects including Fallout 76, Fallout 3, Fallout 4, and Skyrim during his 14 years with the company. Before joining Bethesda, he was involved with Metroid Prime 3 at Retro Studios.
Nate expressed a preference for a smaller team environment, recalling the enjoyable days with a team of 65-110 people. Working on locations such as Diamond City and Blackreach was gratifying for him. However, the Starfield project involved approximately 500 team members across four different branches, which did not align with his work style, emphasizing quick and unique creations.
